Today i watched the Super Bowl at my friend's house. When Eli Manning threw the 40-something yard pass to get a first down in the final minutes of the game, my friend Nick began jumping all over the room. When the Giants threw the touchdown pass to win the game, almost everyone in the room but me began to shout and jump all over the place, some in agony and some in triumph. As i watched these people leap up and down, i noticed that their body did not necessarily travel in parabolas. After giving it further thought, however, i realized that every person's center of mass must be traveling in parabolas. Although i did not stare at each person's belly button to see if i was right, nobody can escape the laws of physics.
